Athletic departments face intense resource constraints, especially outside high-revenue sports like football and men's basketball. Every coaching hire must punch above its weight class. A quality assistant coach handles video analysis, academic progress monitoring, nutrition coordination, and match scouting, often all in the same afternoon.
By investing in Pittman, Alabama State Athletics showed a clear intent to maximize its Olympic sports programs. The Southwestern Athletic Conference has grown increasingly competitive. Programs like Jackson State and Grambling State consistently upgrade facilities and staffing. For the Lady Hornets to compete for conference tournament trophies year in and year out, technical precision must compensate for any budgetary differences. Pittman's operational discipline provides precisely that leverage.
