Allison was a prominent athletic figure at Elon. A graduate of Mountain View High School in Stafford, Virginia, the 5-foot-11 junior was a regular starter for the Phoenix, having played in all nine games of the 2015 season up to that point. Peers and coaches knew him as a resilient, charismatic presence on the field. Behind that public exterior, however, Allison experienced escalating personal distress in early November.
Teammates first noticed a sharp shift in his demeanor on Tuesday, November 10. Allison abruptly walked away from team activities and departed the Elon campus without notifying coaching personnel. Concerned by his emotional state and sudden lack of communication, teammates and coaches contacted campus authorities. Elon University Police immediately entered Allison into national law enforcement databases as a missing person, classifying him as an individual whose welfare was at serious risk. Elon athletic administrators contacted neighboring regional jurisdictions, attempting to trace his movements along the Interstate 40/85 corridor.
