Spotting a genuine tradesman channel involves clear technical checks. Digital aggregators routinely download YouTube Shorts or Instagram Reels from licensed electricians, strip the original watermarks, and re-upload them to TikTok handles with generic bios like "Best Electrical Hacks." These profiles exist solely to flip affiliate traffic or sell dubious lead forms to unvetted subcontractors.
To run an account legitimacy check on any profile claiming ties to switchedelectric.com, look at three non-negotiable details:
- Domain Linkage: The bio must contain a direct, unshortened link to switchedelectric.com or an official link-tree directly resolving to their verified regional booking engine.
- State License Disclosures: Licensed electrical contractors must display their state license number (such as a C-10 electrical contractor license in California) directly in their profile description or pinned introductory video.
- Uniform Branding: Genuine accounts maintain consistent geographic references, uniform technician uniforms, branded service vans, and verifiable cross-links across Google Business profiles and Yelp pages.
If an account posts clips filmed in a UK residential flat with 230V plugs one day and a North American 120V split-phase panel the next, it is an aggregation page, not an operational local company.
