Manual rod fishing requires active input: watching the bobber, clicking on green target zones, and balancing line tension against erratic fish behaviors. A single high-tier catch can take upwards of 45 seconds of concentration. A fish trap removes human input from that calculation entirely.

When anchored, the server tracks the container's status independently. Traps feature fixed inventory slots, holding anywhere from 3 to 10 catches depending on the specific item variant. If a player leaves their avatar standing beside a cluster of submerged cages, the traps continuously pull from the local spawn pool until their slots max out.
This loop forms the backbone of AFK farming strategies. By positioning four to eight cages within swimming distance of a safe zone, players can leave their client running, return an hour later, and haul in dozens of catches ready for bulk sale at the nearest merchant dock.
