Before her name became a title on streaming platforms, Jocelyn Amparo Flores was a high school student living in Cleveland, Ohio. Born on July 2, 2000, she grew up facing severe mental health struggles, including recurring bouts of depression. Friends and family members remembered her as an artistic, sensitive young woman with an interest in photography, fashion, and alternative streetwear.
Like thousands of teenagers in the mid-2010s, Flores spent hours navigating internet creative communities. She connected with emerging Florida artists and models through Twitter and Instagram. Her digital presence caught the attention of Onfroy during a pivotal moment in his career. Fresh off the breakout viral success of "Look At Me!" and recently released from county jail, Onfroy was expanding his creative orbit, inviting collaborators and acquaintances into his Florida circle for promotional photo shoots and brand campaigns.
The invitation extended to Flores in early May 2017 was framed around modeling for Onfroy's emerging apparel line, Revenge. Eager to take part in the burgeoning creative scene, she booked a trip from Ohio to South Florida.
