The alliance with APNIC injects systemic intelligence into the core switching fabric. As the regional Internet registry for the Asia Pacific, APNIC oversees the allocation of IPv4 and IPv6 addresses alongside Autonomous System Numbers (ASNs). Historically, validating whether an ISP legitimately holds the address space it advertises to an exchange required fragmented queries, batch directory downloads, and manual verification pipelines.

Under the new operational agreement, NIXI integrates APNIC's live data streams straight into its peering route servers. Automated IP address validation establishes verified routing objects through Resource Public Key Infrastructure (RPKI). When a participating ISP advertises a prefix at a NIXI exchange point, route servers cross-reference Route Origin Authorizations (ROAs) in real time.

This instant verification provides three decisive network dividends:

  • Validated prefixes enter the local forwarding information base (FIB) instantly, removing route propagation delays that previously took hours or days to stabilize.
  • Deterministic Path Selection: Automated validation eliminates ambiguous paths, letting BGP routing optimization algorithms select the shortest physical path based on latency rather than conservative policy filters.
  • Illegitimate, unverified, or hijacked address blocks get dropped at the exchange border before propagating across peer networks, isolating configuration errors before they cascade.
