Is Charlie Rose Baseball affiliated with Pete Rose?
No. While Pete Rose was nicknamed "Charlie Hustle," the store was established by San Jose baseball figure Charlie Rose in 1958 and has no business, financial, or personal connection to the former MLB player.
Where is Charlie Rose Baseball located today?
The store operates at 2114 S. Bascom Avenue in San Jose, near the Campbell border. It serves baseball and softball communities across Santa Clara County and the broader San Francisco Bay Area.
What is baseball glove steaming and why is it used?
Glove steaming uses controlled moisture and elevated temperatures to soften stiff leather fibers without baking out the natural oils. Store technicians follow the steam treatment with targeted mallet shaping, creating an immediate, game-ready pocket while preserving the glove's lifespan.
Does the store repair torn webbing and broken laces on older gloves?
Yes. Charlie Rose Baseball provides full glove relacing, web replacements, and pocket adjustments for both baseball and softball gloves, handling repairs in-house with commercial rawhide lacing.
Can staff help players comply with youth bat regulations?
Yes. Staff members match players with bats certified under USA Baseball, USSSA 1.15 BPF, or BBCOR standards, ensuring equipment complies with specific league and tournament rules.
