If your primary goal is removing peer pressure and keeping audience eyes off your numbers, native account privacy controls handle that seamlessly. You can hide public engagement metrics entirely without touching your account type.
To hide like and view counts across your entire feed:
- Open your Instagram profile and tap the three-line hamburger menu in the upper right corner.
- Scroll to What you see and select Like and share counts.
- Toggle the switch to active.
This change removes like tallies on posts from other accounts across your home feed.
To hide likes on your own content:
- Navigate to an existing post and tap the three dots in its top corner.
- Select Hide like count.
- When publishing new media, scroll down to Advanced settings on the final caption screen and toggle Hide like and view counts on this post before hitting share.
Your followers will see that a post was liked by a specific username "and others," stripping away the vanity comparison. However, on professional accounts, the prompt reading "View Insights" will still sit right beneath the image for your eyes only.
