Heavy metal history is crowded with children who buckled under the weight of an iconic surname or squandered their opportunities chasing cheap celebrity. The Hetfield heirs have charted an entirely different trajectory. Grounded by a Colorado childhood, tested by major domestic shifts, and propelled by their own creative instincts, Cali, Castor, and Marcella show what it looks like to honor a parent's legacy while refusing to live inside it.
Whether Castor is driving a tour van late into the night or Cali is laying down acoustic demos far away from studio boardrooms, the next generation is doing the work on its own terms. For James Hetfield, that independence is arguably a far greater accomplishment than any platinum record hanging on the wall.
