Upon his release from federal custody in 2021, Laye found a drastically altered rap landscape. Key peers had fallen victim to gun violence, most notably FBG Duck, who was murdered in broad daylight in Chicago's Gold Coast shopping district in 2020. The streets that once fueled Laye's music had become a graveyard for his closest contemporaries. Recognizing the mortal danger of remaining entrenched on the South Side, Laye chose relocation.
He systematically repurposed his reputation into digital content. Channel hosts like DJ Vlad, Say Cheese TV, and Adam22 welcomed Laye for multi-part sit-downs. Viewers tuned in not necessarily for new musical singles, but for firsthand accounts of Chicago's bloodiest era. Laye delivered. His storytelling possessed unfiltered cadence: he recalled rivalries, exposed industry double standards, and broke down the psychological toll of incarceration. His own YouTube channel flourished as he leaned into live commentary, reacting to current rap gossip and engaging in high-decibel arguments with other online personalities.
