Rutledge did not inherit a direct line to ESPN's flagship studio programming. Born in St. Petersburg, Florida, she attended the University of Florida, earning a bachelor’s degree in telecommunications in 2011. While an undergraduate, she spent hours working local broadcasts, cutting highlights, and reporting from the baseline for Gator baseball and softball coverage.
In 2012, she won the title of Miss Florida, utilizing the pageant's scholarship opportunities to fund her ongoing professional training and community outreach. Rather than pursuing entertainment hosting, Rutledge doubled down on hard sports journalism. She joined Fox Sports Florida and Sun Sports as a sideline reporter, covering Tampa Bay Rays baseball and regional college football games under tight operational constraints.
ESPN took notice of her field discipline in 2014, recruiting her to the newly launched SEC Network. Her rapport with coaches, players, and analysts quickly expanded her role. By 2017, she took over as regular host of SEC Nation, guiding the Saturday morning traveling roadshow through intense SEC campus environments. When ESPN reorganized its premier NFL studio show in August 2020, the network tapped Rutledge to lead NFL Live alongside analysts Marcus Spears, Dan Orlovsky, and Ryan Clark. The restructured show won widespread critical acclaim for breaking down complex coverages and schematic shifts without sacrificing studio chemistry.
