Jacobs and Goins married on August 23, 1995. At the time, Jacobs was struggling through ill-fated WWE gimmicks, including the villainous dentist Isaac Yankem, DDS, and a short-lived run as a substitute "Diesel."
The breakthrough came at the 1997 Badd Blood: In Your House pay-per-view, where Jacobs debuted as the Undertaker’s vengeful brother, Kane. The character exploded in popularity, demanding more than 200 days on the road annually throughout the height of the Attitude Era.
Unlike many wrestling spouses who joined traveling entourages or made appearances in WWE television angles, Goins intentionally remained off-screen. She declined opportunities to appear in on-camera storylines, choosing to keep her home life isolated from the sports entertainment industry.
Wrestling peers have often noted that Jacobs was one of the few headline performers of that era who avoided backstage drama and self-destructive habits. Jacobs routinely credited Goins for providing an emotional counterbalance to the brutal road schedule, managing household affairs, and giving him a tangible reason to leave the wrestling persona behind the moment he stepped through his front door.
