Q1: Why did Off Campus receive a TV-MA rating instead of TV-14?
A1: The series features repeated instances of full graphic male nudity, multiple explicit sex scenes, pervasive foul language, collegiate drinking, and frank thematic discussions of sexual assault that exceed the allowable thresholds for TV-14.
Q2: Does Off Campus show a physical depiction of sexual assault?
A2: No. The series focuses on Hannah Wells' psychological and emotional recovery following an assault that occurred years prior to the events of the series. The assault is recounted through dialogue rather than graphic visual depiction.
Q3: Is the television adaptation faithful to Elle Kennedy's book, The Deal?
A3: Yes. Showrunner scripts remain exceptionally faithful to the romance beats, dialogue, and character arcs of the original novel, which is why the production embraced the adult TV-MA rating rather than editing out mature plotlines.
