The Hollywood bromance between Isaac and Pascal is not a studio creation designed for press tours. It started in 2005, long before either achieved franchise stardom. Both were cast in the off-Broadway production of Nilo Cruz’s play Beauty of the Father at the Manhattan Theatre Club. They were young Latino actors struggling to break out of narrow, stereotypical casting boxes while earning barely enough to cover New York rent.
Over the subsequent two decades, they watched each other rise from obscure guest spots to headline major properties. Isaac stepped into Inside Llewyn Davis, Star Wars, and Dune. Pascal broke through with Game of Thrones, Narcos, and The Last of Us. When Isaac hosted Saturday Night Live in 2022, Pascal made an unannounced cameo, eliciting one of the biggest cheers of the evening.
Their ongoing connection is marked by tactile, teasing affection. Isaac has publicly referred to Pascal as his "oldest friend" and playfully referred to him as his "sweet little Pedro." During theater appearances in late 2025, Isaac admitted he intentionally tried to crack Pascal up during serious scenes, relishing the chance to break his focus because of their deep creative trust.
