The SEC's consolidated 10-year distribution agreement with ESPN reshaped how kickoff times are announced. Instead of waiting for six-day or twelve-day selection windows late in the season, the league office now establishes start windows for every contest during the summer.
Games fall into four designated windows:
- Early: 12:00 PM to 1:00 PM ET
- Afternoon: 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM ET
- Night: 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM ET
- Flex: Designated for games that could air either in the afternoon or at night
ABC now commands the marquee 3:30 PM ET national game of the week along with prime-time Saturday night features. When head coach Josh Heupel guides the Vols into high-leverage conference clashes, ABC and ESPN receive first priority. Mid-tier matchups move directly to SEC Network, while non-conference openers against FCS opponents stream exclusively on SEC Network+ and ESPN+.
