When Carlos Sainz was sidelined with appendicitis in March 2024, Ferrari called Bearman up from Formula 2 with mere hours of notice. Qualifying 11th and finishing seventh in Jeddah instantly altered the teenager’s reality. Millions of casual viewers turned to social media to discover who the young Brit was outside the car. Within hours, clips of Estelle Ogilvy cheering from hospitality suites were recirculating across short-form video platforms.
The interest was not one-sided. Ogilvy had already developed a substantial digital footprint of her own. Operating under the handle Silly Lettuce TikTok accounts and lifestyle feeds, she had amassed over 150,000 followers by documenting fashion week excursions and university routines in London. Combining an emerging high-fashion influencer with a freshly minted Ferrari sensation proved irresistible to Gen Z social feeds.
The speed of this visibility created a rumor mill. Paddock onlookers began analyzing old Instagram tags, dates on photos, and public registries to construct an exact narrative of their partnership. The central question driving the algorithm was simple: just how much older was Ogilvy than the teenage racer?
