What event did Gina Carano’s viral lip bite meme actually come from?
The footage was filmed in August 2009 during the official weigh-ins for Strikeforce: Carano vs. Cyborg in San Jose, California. The headlining clash was the first major female bout to headline a prime-time cable mixed martial arts card.
Why did Gina Carano call the viral moment a "total stoner moment"?
She explained that she was mentally exhausted and spacey from an intense weight cut. The facial tick was an awkward, involuntary reaction to bright camera lights while her mind was wandering, rather than a planned attempt to flirt or project fight-week swagger.
When did Gina Carano last compete in professional mixed martial arts?
Carano last fought professionally on August 15, 2009, suffering a first-round TKO loss to Cris Cyborg. She transitioned into Hollywood action roles shortly thereafter, starring in films such as Haywire and Fast & Furious 6.
