For over two decades, Gahan and Sklias-Gahan have made their primary home in New York City, largely operating out of an apartment in Greenwich Village. The city afforded them an everyday anonymity that suburban England or gated Los Angeles never permitted. In New York, Gahan could take the subway, walk the dog, and attend parent-teacher conferences without constant public interruption.
To escape the density of Manhattan, the family invested in a home in Montauk, on the eastern tip of Long Island. Far from the high-society party circuits of the Hamptons, their presence in Montauk has historically revolved around local community life. Gahan has quietly supported regional initiatives, including hosting benefits for local church youth groups, demonstrating his deep integration into the community.
Within this private space, the couple established a blended family dynamic. Gahan formally adopted Jennifer’s son, Jimmy, giving him his surname and raising him alongside Stella Rose. Gahan also maintained contact with his eldest son, Jack, from his first marriage, ensuring that his past did not dictate fractures in his present.
