Rather than establishing base camp in London or Los Angeles, Barry and Linda permanently relocated to Miami, Florida, during the late 1970s. The decision was practical. South Florida offered warm weather, international airport access, and a buffer against tabloid intrusion. There, they raised five children: Stephen (born 1973), Ashley (born 1977), Travis (born 1981), Michael (born 1984), and Alexandra (born 1991).
Music became a multigenerational craft inside their home. Eldest son Stephen pursued a successful career as a hard rock guitarist, performing with acts such as Black Label Society, Crowbar, and Kingdom of Sorrow before touring alongside his father. Second son Ashley Gibb became an essential co-writer, teaming up with Barry to compose tracks for his solo releases, including the acclaimed 2016 album In the Now.
Linda managed the household during grueling worldwide tours. Barry has remarked in several retrospective interviews that while he received applause from stadium audiences, Linda handled the far more demanding responsibility of keeping their kids grounded. Today, their family network spans seven grandchildren, keeping their Miami estate full of activity.
