Airing from October 2012 to September 2015, Dog with a Blog occupied an unusual corner of Disney Channel’s lineup. Centered on a blended family whose adopted mutt, Stan (voiced by Stephen Full and portrayed primarily by animal actor Mick), secretly writes an online diary, the show relied heavily on slapstick comedy and bright, high-energy side characters. Leading the supporting ensemble was Benet's Karl Fink, the hyper-intelligent, smug neighborhood kid obsessed with uncovering Stan's talking secret.
Benet turned Karl Fink into a standout foil for Avery Jennings (played by G Hannelius) and Tyler James (played by Blake Michael). His performance earned him a nomination at the 35th Young Artist Awards in 2014 for Best Performance in a TV Series (Guest Starring Young Actor). Karl was rarely written as a flat villain. Over three seasons, the writers softened his edge, transforming him into Avery's unlikely intellectual confidant. That comic timing made Benet one of the network's most recognizable young faces, which made his immediate post-series absence from network television all the more striking.
