A standard keyboard sends standard ASCII bytes to the server. A Unicode text converter, by contrast, maps those keys to distant code points in the Unicode table. Some of these code points belong to mathematical alphanumeric symbols, phonetic extensions, or regional alphabets like Cyrillic and Greek.
Roblox reads these character blocks unevenly. Small capital letters (such as ꜱᴍᴀʟʟ ᴄᴀᴘꜱ) remain close enough to standard Latin glyphs that natural language parsers can read them. They look styled to the human eye, but the algorithm still decodes them accurately. Script, gothic, and double-struck typefaces present the opposite scenario. They alter the character footprint so severely that the safety scanner rejects them outright.
Censorship spikes when players mix multiple alphabets within a single word. Inserting a Cyrillic character into an English word to look edgy triggers security rules instantly. The filter treats character-swapping as an intentional Roblox chat filter bypass attempt, turning the name into tags even if the underlying word is harmless.
